When I first saw screens of Sonic’s “Werehog” form, I thought it was a joke. I still have hope that Sega will say “just kdding”.

    His name is matt gunderman

  3. Acer013 on July 21st, 2008 11:29 pm

Can he strech any part of his anatomy ;3

  4. Setsuna Setsunai on July 21st, 2008 11:48 pm

This reminds me of the Sonic the Hedgehog fighting game. Did anyone else think that was remotely cool?

  5. Deep Purple on July 22nd, 2008 12:20 am

I though Sonic The Fighters was awesome.

This, however, does not appear to be.

What’s amazing is SEGA was *that* close to making a perfect Sonic game.

  6. Glitch@acer on July 22nd, 2008 12:24 am

    Fantastic four

  7. Chris on July 22nd, 2008 12:49 am

Before Sonic was thought up of, Sega considered making their mascot a rabbit whose main ability and offense was to stretch out his arms. That idea was scrapped, but the concept of a character with that ability was eventually used…Ristar.

Funny but, whutz dis? In what game is this in? Sonic’s next below average failure of a game :/? How is it that 2 mario games come out on every nintendo console, they all turn out to be good wheras 3 or more sonic games come out on every console, and turn out to be so terrible :/ 4 stars, it was good, but didn’t make me laugh

  9. FrEEz on July 22nd, 2008 12:56 am

    *After clicking link *DOH**
WEREHOG? Wow, sega are really desperate.

  10. ManiacalZManiac on July 22nd, 2008 12:58 am

    …FUCK!

  11. Dan on July 22nd, 2008 3:20 am

Let me be a nerd here, which isn’t difficult for me. Sonic can’t be a were-hog. Were means “man”, so “were-wolf” means wolf man. Most people seem to think that “were” implies shape changing, but it doesn’t. The only way sonic could be a were-creature is if he turned halfway into a human.
And that’s my lesson in entomology, I hope someone learned something today.

  12. ManiacalZManiac on July 22nd, 2008 3:26 am

    Thank You, Dan.

  13. Draco Advigilat on July 22nd, 2008 3:47 am

    @Dan:
After reading that, and considering that he’d have to be a “hog man”, the only thing I can imagine now manbearpig.

And I agree with the thoughts of Sega having _almost_ managed to finally figure out what made sonic fun.

  14. B-mac on July 22nd, 2008 6:24 am

    Bad.

  15. Pigeon Army on July 22nd, 2008 8:14 am

I’m…I’m flabbergasted when Sega say things like that.

  16. sonic failure. on July 22nd, 2008 8:50 am

    C-c-c-c-ombo breaka.

  17. Vabolo on July 22nd, 2008 8:51 am

    @Draco Advigilat
My (and Al Gore’s) thoughts exactly!

  18. G1drake on July 22nd, 2008 8:56 am

weird, but some say that this game might be good

  19. MasqueNoMercy on July 22nd, 2008 9:58 am

soo… sonic is a hedgehog wolf man thing now… so which one of those creatures has the ability of mr. fantastic? maybe in segas fantasy world, wolves can stretch just like hedgehogs have amazing speed

  20. SpiralCocktail on July 22nd, 2008 11:18 am

So… is a hedgehog either a hedge or a hog?

  21. TheDJ17 on July 22nd, 2008 2:01 pm

    Which is longer,
    his name or his arms?

  22. Pauld'Arbonne on July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm

Meh, I don’t mind the Werehog gimmick in the next game. It might actually be fun to play as Sonic the Werehog. That’s also only half the game, the other half you’re still running around zones at top speed. I’m personally gonna wait for the game to come out and play it before passing judgment. :P

  23. Blank-Mage on July 22nd, 2008 9:29 pm

Basically, Sega realized that the game looked entirely too promising, so they had a brainstorm, and came up with werehog. Nice one. I’m sure that’ll be standard in all your games from now on. You know what? Take a page from Capcom, and make another Genesis game. I’d buy it.

  24. lolguy on July 22nd, 2008 10:19 pm

i can has call him hogwolf??

  25. maclarr on July 22nd, 2008 10:56 pm

    Werehog, more like mr.fantastic subsitute

  26. Shadow Link on July 22nd, 2008 11:58 pm

    @TheDJ17
I can’t see it clearly, but it looks like my ruler says “longwerehegehog” is very slightly longer than his arm.

  27. Dan on July 23rd, 2008 12:11 am

In Sega’s defense about the Mr. Fantastic thing, there are only so many super powers and there are a lot of super heroes that have the same powers. I’d wager that there hasn’t been a new super power in your or my lifetime. So no matter what power you give Sonic, there’s a superhero that has it. Super speed? The flash. Turns into a hog? Beast Boy / Changeling. Stretchy limbs? Mr. Fantastic. Super weaving powers? Superman. No seriously, Superman has super weaving powers.

    lol. BOOM HEADSHOT.

  29. smashpro1 on July 23rd, 2008 6:37 pm

@Dan, he basically made up whatever powers as needed. Like his super ventriloquism or super hypnotism (which explains why no one recognizes his with glasses)

  30. Dan on July 23rd, 2008 8:27 pm

Superman is the Eric Cartmen of super heroes. His power is to have lots and lots of powers. But my point was that there are no new super powers. First off, Super Man has like 75% of all powers ever, and of what’s left there are enough super heroes that one can safely assume that it’s been done before.
I look forward to making fun of DC vs Mortal Kombat, by the way.

  31. dudemanawesome on July 24th, 2008 2:02 am

ok, completely forget what you know about this game, or any other sonic game for that matter… imagine this was the first sonic game to released…
now read that wikipedia article under story and feel the burning hate towards this game…

  32. him on July 25th, 2008 4:07 pm

Has anyone but me noticed he’s like RISTAR?!

  33. Segasonicdude on August 2nd, 2008 3:30 pm

    @him

The Gameplay looks like it as well

  34. Sam on October 28th, 2008 11:25 pm

You all 6!tch way too much about the werehog thing…
I find it kind of cool…
Why don’t you all just shut up and treat the werehog as though it wasn’t strange? Then the game might actually be good?!
You all just keep ranting about how the werehog form is gay… Have you tried the gameplay? NO!
Games are meant for entertainment people… They’re not meant to be cool (specifically, I’m not saying games are uncool).
For me, as long as the gameplay’s good, I’m fine with the Werehog… It doesn’t matter if the concept doesn’t match Sonic.
Just keep in mind Sonic isn’t who he was and he’s different now: ACCEPT THAT.

(I don’t even know why I’m trying to explain my opinion, now all of you are probably going to 6!tch about my comment)…

  35. Dan on December 17th, 2008 11:30 pm

@Sam -- You were wrong, first that the game might be good and secondly about people 6!tching about your comments. BTW, nice censor evade there. There’s no room for vulgarity here at Halolz.com. Yep, perfectly G rated site here.

I had a bit of a nerdgasm at Yahtzee’s review of the game today. See if you can figure out why: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/472-Sonic-Unleashed

The Running daytime levels where awesome, music was good, but little else, and yes, the Wii is Superior to PS3, 360, and PS2 verions, but that's all the good praise I can level at it, And Yes, CHIP SUCK BLUE BALLS DRINKS!

  38. Jewels on March 7th, 2009 6:17 pm

I liked the Werehog, but I wish they did it better, the concept was a good idea. However I wish they took more time with it and did a better job with camra and contrals. And did a better job with some of the voices as well as did more running levels. Those where the best since SA1&2

  39. sonicfan on August 15th, 2009 2:47 am
