Twitch plays Pokemon is fun for everyone involved, except maybe the freaked out NPCs.

I'm suprised on how far they managed to get

It's probably one of the most psychotic matter of progression and randomness I've ever witnessed.

Sometimes they'll accomplish tasks that you'd think would take hours in a matter of minutes, like getting through the electric gym's puzzle. Then they'll take hours to get through a simple route.

And then other times they go into the PC and release their starter and other one of a kinds.

Can't wait for them to reach Cinnabar without a fishing rod, and then release every Pokemon who could know surf or fly.

I'm more waiting for them to release Omanyte if they ever bring it back or waste/toss their master ball.

Didn't the creator tweak the emulator so there wouldn't be a step limit (assuming this is the Safari Zone)?

^Root image is TR's hideout at the game corner, but yep, he disabled step limit for the inevitable future!

(EDIT: HAHAHA JOKES by the time I typed this post they'd already been through the safari. YOU LEAVE FOR A DAY AND 40 VENONAT ARE CAUGHT AT ONCE)

He did. If you look at the bar on top of the imputs, you'll see Anarchy and Democracy

Anarchy is everyone giving inputs, and democracy is only the input that was the most voted is send to the game.

But everyone hated democracy apparently, so I guess it'll keep on Anarchy

They hate Democracy for some odd reason, but for things that require it (say, the Safari Zone and maze of the Rocket hideout) they seem to be willing to suffer through to get it over with. Before then immediately going back to Anarchy.

That said, I for one favor the Dome Fossil, herald of democracy and progress.

The reigning argument against democracy I've seen is that it defeats the entire point, because it's not like we're trying to find out what happens in this new and radical video game. Every meaningful snippet of the TPP culture comes from the infuriating and meandering button inputs, whether it's clicking the helix fossil 750 times or releasing half their pokemon. And the sweet ambrosia taste of victory comes from wondering how the f*ck you even got anything accomplished. Then again, I imagine the all-nighters really don't want to be stuck in a single building for the next 48 hours.

In the words of Flareon...most people just want to watch the world burn...

As for me, maybe my lack of interest in Twitch Plays Pokémon stems from the fact that I'm a "Genwunner" and I've played the games before (more than once I might add). So there's nothing "new" per se, outside the sheer chaos/order system. If you've beaten the game, you know what to expect challenge wise.

Perhaps I would find it more amusing if it weren't already drilled into my being as a political science guy (Whole anarchy versus government argument...liberalism vs. conservatism). Regardless, what DOES amuse me is the fan-art and "folklore" of the pokemon/items that are used or released. It's like the spawn of a new religion or something. Omanyte's fossil is perceived as some sort of deity and it's simply bizarre.

My thoughts on Twitch Plays Pokemon after a few seconds of it:

Put a bunch of monkeys in front of a typewriter and they'll eventually catch a mewtwo.

I'm pretty sure that's how the saying goes.

And then, Missingno outta nowhere.

If they catch it, the game is done. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT.

Twitch Plays Pokemon is the ultimate proof that the one entity that can bring humanity together to accomplish a goal is videogames.

Twitchplayspokemon is the most frustrating thing to watch there is.

That was scripted, right? Right? I feel like it was but I'm so scared that it wasn't.

Edit- Alright, I made it through the video now. It was totally scripted. Still very hard to watch.

I don't find that funny.

I find it damn right annoying.
