Yes, even Steam has it’s own advice meme now! Seriously though, why does every new game I buy need to install Direct X? Like… seriously, it’s on there by now!

    I saw that roller coaster tycoon was on sale, so i bought the whole expanded pack for $30… It was one of my favorite games as a kid…. but i still play TF2 instead…

    In total, so far there were two reasons for me to update the DX9 legacy components in Win7:
    1) Worms Reloaded on Steam (did it manually as mentioned on Team17 forum, just to be annoyed by Steam many times after to update my up-to-date DirectX and Visual C++ runtimes).
    2) Quake 1, as in DirectQ (the code base of all other OpenGL ports is soooo 1997).

    I know how to avoid the Direct X installs. Unfortunately, it cuts the amount of actual games available to you way down.
