Actually, that's the Pythagorean theorem, but it doesn't apply to isosceles triangles, only to right triangles. a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where a and b are the legs of a right triangle and c is the hypotenuse. I'm in Calculus II, so I have to use that all the time.
