R.O.B.

This one was featured in an article on Joystiq. I have no idea what they’re talking about… I had a R.O.B.!

He was just an NES with rockets disguised as a robot right?

  2. Brocken on June 1st, 2008 12:53 pm

I knew, though only through retrospective articles and stuff. I’m from the 90’s, dammit!

  3. smashpro1 on June 1st, 2008 12:58 pm

Can’t forget Mario Kart DS. He was playable in that

  4. Bulletproof Moon on June 1st, 2008 1:00 pm

he could stack crap like nobody’s business!

  5. Ryumaru on June 1st, 2008 1:07 pm

I know ROB and I wasn’t even alive when he was around!

  6. CaptainBaconMan on June 1st, 2008 1:07 pm

I remember him. Ours was old, so it was always going ‘clack clack clack’ when it moved.

  7. GermaineTrain on June 1st, 2008 1:11 pm

    @Ryumaru
    Tsk. Kids these days.

I remember that thing clearly. My friend had one back then. I don’t know what happened to it though.

  8. Gneekman on June 1st, 2008 1:19 pm

He was also in a couple microgames in the original WarioWare.

  9. Gneekman on June 1st, 2008 1:20 pm

OH. And in the background of a track in F-Zero GX, if I recall correctly.

  10. Kbman on June 1st, 2008 1:25 pm

This picture is probably the most true thing on the internet.

  11. Bill on June 1st, 2008 1:42 pm

Rob was also in Mario Kart DS

  12. Ab-Noxious on June 1st, 2008 2:17 pm

it is true… also very sad… many people read this and agree, but there are still the select few who have owned/used a rob. i have one i gave to the drama club for a star wars skit after it stopped working… R.I.P. buddy!

  13. Orion X on June 1st, 2008 2:59 pm

I know what (who?) it is… And, while he’s a good character, I still think it was a dumb idea to put him in Brawl. To put a bad NES peripheral into a fighting game as a fighter? No thanks.
MKDS didn’t bother me as much. I mean, he’s “operating” something…

  14. Chris on June 1st, 2008 3:28 pm

I first saw him in a VG Cats strip and had no idea who he was. :P

  15. dekuskrub1 on June 1st, 2008 4:50 pm

    @ chris
    u r epic fail
    i love ROB
    hes awsome
    slow but awsome

  16. baskellus on June 1st, 2008 4:57 pm

:O well now i have to change my screen name from “chris” to “baskellus” -_- i knew who ROB was long ago. i never had the pleasure to own one though =[ but when i heard that he was gonna be in brawl i was like ” are fuckin serious dumbest idea i have ever heard” and i have never and will never play as him.

  17. FrEEz on June 1st, 2008 6:34 pm

Yeah i only knew him from warioware. Never saw a real one. Then again, i live in egypt, so i don’t really see much except what’s on the internet(mostly AVGN for the OLD NES peripherals, old games, old consoles etc. etc. etc.)|

Then again…the internet has anything about everything you would ever want to know about…

  18. Jake on June 1st, 2008 6:40 pm

    @ baskellus

You should try playing as him truth be known he is very deadly when played correctly, one of my friends likes playing with him because his moves just come out of no where so its hard to predict where he is going to strike. As for the idea it was to me unexpected and he was one of the last things i ever thought would be in brawl but at the same time i believe it was a good move because they made a almost completely unknown into a very well known character.

    @ picture

As someone all ready said this this is one of the most true pictures out there rob was known by few and owned by less needless to say super smash bros can turn a complete unknown into something known worldwide. 5/5

  19. Chris on June 1st, 2008 7:48 pm

    @dekuskrub1
You are the first person I’ve ever heard saying that they actually liked this thing. As much as I know, it was just yet another experimental NES accessory that didn’t really work.

  20. Red on June 1st, 2008 9:07 pm

    You have a R.O.B.? NERD!

  21. Kevin J. on June 1st, 2008 10:39 pm

I know who R.O.B is, and he’s my favorite character in MK:DS…
And I think my friend has one in his garage somewhere…. I think I’m going to go look for it…

  22. technoskull on June 2nd, 2008 12:04 am

ironically hes one of my best characters

  23. gdiggs on June 2nd, 2008 3:40 am

I has a R.O.B.; bought him for 8 bucks at a secondhand store, came with the Gyros, controller stand, and Gyro spinner. Was very good condition.

I’ve known his existence for quite some time, and since I’m a collector of rare peripherals, I just had to get him, though he is serving me no purpose, I still enjoy the fact I found him-especially for so cheap.

    Now I need a Powerglove…

  24. Rayza B on June 2nd, 2008 4:47 am

    @gdiggs
    WHOA!
    lucky you…..

  25. POW3RUP on June 2nd, 2008 5:08 am

    TRU-DAT

  26. Kat on June 2nd, 2008 1:56 pm

I still have mine. My brother and I used him when we were little like once or twice and didn’t really use him much after that. So he sits alone in his box… poor Rob. He comes out just so I can show him to people… I actually still play Gyromite (and not the emulator)

  27. Taylor on June 2nd, 2008 2:16 pm

Oh man, I totally had a R.O.B. I didn’t actually have an NES cuz I was a toddler, but I still played with him. Probably explains a lot about my life.

  28. jamescgamora on June 2nd, 2008 5:25 pm

I was born after ROBs creation and even I had one!

  29. MexicanJuice on June 4th, 2008 4:50 am

My God, you people have no idea of the significane R.O.B. had. For shame!

  30. LaundryMan on July 8th, 2008 2:40 am

    …Yeah, you’re right.
Where do I obtain one of these?

  31. Mikau94 on March 23rd, 2011 9:04 pm

I still have a R.O.B. We have had some good memories together. I never had Stack Up, was it any good?
