SOPA Blackout

Well our SOPA blackout protest is over! The site went dark for over 20 hours (midnight to 9PM) to help raise awareness about the SOPA/PIPA legislation that they’re trying to force through.

Hopefully you guys had a chance to check out some of the information on our blackout page and took the time to contact your local Senator, but if not be sure to stop by AmericanCensorship.org to learn more about these internet crippling bills and what you can do to help prevent them from being passed!

    Never leave me again, Halolz!

The single greatest and most important thing Halolz has ever done.

Whatever asshole thought SOPA was a good idea, I hope he dies a death of 1000 blue shells. I could never stand to see a community like you guys be torn apart.

Good news is, the amount of senators opposed to SOPA and PIPA practically quadrupled as a result of this- according to OpenCongress, before everyone shut their websites down, only five senators opposed SOPA and PIPA to 35 who supported it. Now it jumped to 30 nays against 35 yays (and this is before the bills go up for vote), as well as a grand total of 102 organizations (102 for each bill) who have expressed outright disgust.

And it's all because we stuck through with the blackout. Can I get a mass "Whoop, whoop"?

(by the way, for a full list of opposing groups, go here: http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h3261/money )"

I thank you Halolz for participating the blackout.
This bill needs to be destroyed.

Fun fact: VGCats also participated in the blackout.

I sure am glad that I didn't have to write any last minute reports today.

I was glad Halolz participated in the blackout, but thanks for the heads-up, Shawn. >:U

If this bill passes it's just another piece of evidence that our Congress has its head so far up its ass it could kiss the back of its own teeth.

Scumbag Lamar Smith: Writes bill to censor copyrighted material on the internet, uses photograph on his website without the photographer's knowledge.

    Note:

SOPA (H.R. 3261) is the House version. The people there are called "representatives" or "congressmen/congresswomen."

PIPA (S. 968) is the Senate version. Those are the people who are called "senators."

If you're going to be sending angry, frothing messages, make sure you complain about the right bill to the right people.

I can't think of something witty, so I default to Novus-ism. 4chan is dickbutts.

Edit: Waitaminute. I wrote SOPA. Somebody been haxorzing my account!

Or maybe I just accidentally typed in 4chan because I was going to write 4chan-ism instead of Novus-ism. Whoopsiedaisie!

I swear to the Goddesses that if that little comment on the bottom of the page comes true…
    I WILL find you.
    And you WILL regret it.

SHAWN! It was horrible! The internet was blacked out and I had to go out into the place the people called the "Real World." It was so cold and lonely out there with no sense of humor! I'm not sure I can reintegrate back into internet society. The time out there changed me.

  17. BTSnoogans on January 19th, 2012 1:48 am

Shawn, I hope you never have to black out Halolz again. Without Halolz, I had to go to other websites. Have you ever been to other websites? They're scary. There was like, a bunch of naked people and stuff and I didn't know what was going on.

I liked the Chrono Trigger reference you had on the page.
Even though I had to look it up.

Stupid Humans! Instead of wasting their efforts creating these stupid laws, why don't they use it to something more useful, like researching the power of Sardines!?
